1944 OWEN SUB-MACHINE GUN BAYONET & SCABBARD
Item No. 00211

** FOR UK CUSTOMERS ONLY **

An unusual, 1944 dated bayonet for the Australian Army Owen Sub-Machine Gun.

This bayonet's design is based on the 1907 (SMLE) pattern bayonet, but is notably smaller - with a blade length of 10 inches, and an overall length of 15 inches.

The blade retains most of it's original blue finish, and is stamped "OA" - which is the marking for the Orange Rifle Factory, New South Wales.

The wooden hand grips are stamped "SLAZ", which is short for the Slazenger Company of Sydney, who are now famous for their tennis rackets!

The wartime production of these bayonets was about 45,000, making them significantly rarer than the SMLE and the P13/17 bayonets.

This example is nice, clean, and in VGC for age.
