RARE: ORIGINAL 1939 LUFTWAFFE COMPASS . |
Item No. 00221
|
An original, excellent condition, 1939 dated Luftwaffe Armband Compass. This escape aid was carried by Luftwaffe aircrew, and would have been used in the event of ditching. They would have worn this on the wrist, sometimes on the leg, or some are seen in photos being worn on the life vest. It has a unique, three-part strap, which allowed it to be more greatly adjusted. This compass is illustrated in the popular reference book "Luftwaffe vs RAF" by Mick J. Prodger, on pages 52 and 106. This example is marked "AK 39", and is identical to the one illustrated in the book. This is a rare item, and would be ideal for the specialist Luftwaffe/Battle of Britain collector, or for an aviation museum. Price: |
