A rare, 1950's period French issue Bush Hat, from the Indo-China wars of that period.

Before the Americans got involved in the Vietnam War, that area of the Far East used to fall under French control. The French suffered a series of humilating defeats in the 1950's, and were eventually forced out.

This hat has been issued and used, and certainly looks like it's seen use in a hot sunny climate, as the colour has faded over the years. It is a good size, with a 60cm circumference (about a size 7.5 in English sizing).

On the inside, is what looks like a diamond-shaped stamp mark. This is a specialised item, and represents a part of the Vietnam history that is not often explored by the collecting fraternity. Issued and used, but still in presentable.
